Australorp
The bird's single comb is moderately large and upright, with five distinct points. The Australorp is considered rare and endangered in its pure form- the conservation status in Australia is listed as recovering
It is the egg laying performance of Australorps that makes this a ‘must-have’ breed. Well looked after Australorps lay approximately 250 very large light-brown eggs per year. Australorps have been used as base stock in out crossing hens for commercial production, so it may be a challenge to find truly pure, heritage genetics.
